Maryland traffic citatons are treated differently with regards to a Maryland provisional license. In Maryland, if you have a provisional driver’s license and receive a PBJ (probation before judgment), the Maryland MVA will consider that a conviction. If you have a “full” driver’s license, however, a PBJ is not considered a conviction for purposes of the Maryland MVA.

- The Marines designated the B-25s 'PBJ'. PB indicates Patrol Bomber and the J is an alpha-code designating the manufacturer, North American Aviation (PBJ does not mean Peanut Butter and Jelly). The Marines were innovative in customizing the PBJs for the jobs they faced.
- Drivers The PB&J Fund, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company, is wholly owned by the MLG Foundation, a 501(c)(3) private foundation. The PB&J Fund, LLC is treated as a disregarded entity by the MLG Foundation.
On July 1, Ramirez, a driver for PB&J, allegedly forgot to drop off the girls, ages 7 months and 1 year, in Rio Rancho. He later returned to PB&J in Bernalillo, locked the van and went home. Drivers that are charged with a speeding ticket in Maryland, and elect a waiver hearing or trial, have the ability to receive a PBJ. The judge must grant the probation before judgment for a speeding ticket. If a judge grants the PBJ for a speed violation, then the MVA will not assess points to the driver’s record. 1st Conviction: Driver Improvement Program
2nd Conviction: 30 day suspension
3rd or subsequent conviction: 180 day suspension or revocation
Pbj Driver License
Although the consequences for receiving a conviction are great, they are not set in stone. The MVA has discretion and is not required to invoke the above mentioned administrative sanctions.
