5.1 Fixed Issues (Qlogic-EFI driver 2.20) ................................................................................ 5.1.0 EFI driver version 2.20 includes the following fixes : - Driver: EFIDriver Rev 2.20: * Driver now ignores the following CLP commands: TargetPortName, TargetLun, argetBootPaths (ER70852) * CLP error code change. CLPErrorValue=254 for unrecognized commands,(ER70852) * Backed out ER66656. This change caused problems on certain HP servers, (ER70852). * Fixed a bug in Start(). The second call (and beyond) to Start() did not attach ScsiIO and BlockIO on the specified Lun. (ER70852) - Efiutil: EfiUtil.efi Rev 2.84: * Added fix to avoid overwriting original SERDES file, if user gives wrong command. (ER 69941) * Added fix for 'nvram_write' Subsystem ID error. (ER70706) 6. Known Issues and Limitations For EFI Driver 2.20 ................................................................................ * On the HP Kauai and Buccaneer platforms, the unload shell command should only be used with driver version 2.10 and above. The unload shell command might hang the system if driver version 2.09 or below is installed. * Efiutil and the EFI Driver are a matched set. Always make sure that Efiutil and the EFI Driver are from the same release package.
7. Upgrade recommendation ................................................................................ [x] Recommended [ ] Critical Note: Upgrade to EFI driver version 2.20 or later is required for support of vPars A.04.01. 8. Installation and Update the adapter Flash memory with EFI Drivers/RISC Firmware Instructions, ................................................................................ 8.1 Features ............................................................................... - Displays the firmware version on all adapters - Updates the firmware in the flash memory of the adapters
8.2 Description ............................................................................... The fibre channel card utility (efiutil.efi, 2.84) allows you to update the adapter flash memory with the EFI driver (ql25xx.drv, 2.20) and RISC firmware (Q25A5227.BIN, 5.03.02). New versions of these images are released periodically. The files in this package should be archived on local server's directories, and not be stored on a fibre channel device. If these files are stored on a fibre channel device and the update fails, these files will not be accessible. The EFI shell command UPDATE.NSH should be used to update the required EFI driver and RISC firmware together. This will ensure that the adapter will function properly after the update.
8.3 Preparation to Download FW and EFI-Utility from HP Web Site (hp.com) ............................................................................... 8.3.A. Download the firmware and EFI utility package from HP web site as shown below, if the EFI drivers in hp.com are later than those provided, listed, and released in the IPF1006-CDROM. 8.3.A.1 HP-UX 1. Download from HP web site: - Download The Files - Download the firmware image file and update utility from HP web site http://www.hp.com under 'Software & Driver Downloads' section. Expand (unzip) as necessary. - Copy Files To EFI Partition - Determine the character-special device file for the EFI partition on your disk. Type 'oscan -fknC disk'. The file will be /dev/rdsk/*s1. If there are more than one such file, check 'bdf' output for the name of the disk containing the directory '/'. - For more information, type 'man vgdisplay' and 'man 4 efi'. Copy all the downloaded files to the EFI partition using efi_cp. - For information on how to use the efi_cp command type 'man efi_cp' - Enter EFI-Shell - Type '/usr/sbin/shutdown -ry now' to reboot system to 'EFI-Boot-Manager'. 2. Update the Firmware From EFI Shell - Proceed to 'Updating Firmware from EFI shell'section, shown below. 8.4 Updating Firmware from EFI shell (EFI Rev2.20), 8G-FC-HBA Qlogic specific ................................................................................ Step 1 ................................................................................ - For general information about using EFI, refer to the 'EFI-Configuration/ Diagnostic Protocol Rev 1.16, Operation and Maintenance Guide', or type 'help -a' and press the Enter key at EFI-shell prompt. - When the 'EFI Boot Manager' menu appears, use the arrow keys to highlight the entry 'EFI Shell', then press the Enter key to select it. The 'Device mapping table' will be displayed. The selection must be made within the timeout period displayed on the screen. - Locate The Files Under EFI Shell - Enter 'fsX:' and press the Enter key. 'X' is from the 'Device mapping table' or use EFI shell command 'map -r' to display this table. In some cases, you may have to enter 'reconnect -r' then 'map -r'. - At EFI shell prompt, change directory to where the update utility and firmware image files reside. - Run the update utility as described below. Then reset the system and reboot. Step 2 .............................................................................. As described in 'Known Issues and Limitations' section, you must execute the following command on HP Integrity Superdome server, HP Integrity rx8620 server or HP Integrity rx7620/rx***/ rx2800 server: fs0:> search all If you fail to execute this command, some adapters may not be found and updated properly. Or the following message may appear, even if the system has an adapter: 'No adapters connected to driver, exiting...' Step 3 .............................................................................. To determine the current EFI driver and RISC firmware versions: The example below indicates that the EFI driver version is 2.20, the RISC firmware version is 5.03.02 and the FC-HBAcard EFI utility,EfiUtil.efi, version is 2.84: fs0:> efiutil Fibre Channel Card Efi Utility 2.84 4 Fibre Channel Adapters found: Adapter Path WWN Driver (Firmware) A0 Acpi(000222F0,200)/Pci(1|0) 50060B00003B1340 2.20 (5.03.02) A1 Acpi(000222F0,200)/Pci(1|1) 50060B00003B1342 2.20 (5.03.02) A2 Acpi(000222F0,400)/Pci(1|0) 50060B000066C130 2.20 (5.03.02) A3 Acpi(000222F0,400)/Pci(1|1) 50060B000066C132 2.20 (5.03.02) Step 4 ..............................................................................
